Look at our slab!! Drove past this morning and the giant concrete pumper crane was there! So excited! Unfortunately by the time I got back up there with the camera at lunchtime, it had finished and gone, so I didn't get any photos :(
Never mind, we have a slab! The boys were working very hard as always; great to see! Can't wait to go up on the weekend and have a slab dance!

Chocolate has been wrapped!
On Thursday, the wire framing was delivered and on a blustery, wet Melbourne Friday, the boys wrapped the chocolate and did all the reinforcing for the slab to be poured! We went up this afternoon to have a look; nice and muddy for the small blokes to get up to mischief in! Thank god for gumboots! So hopefully the slab will be poured some time this week!

Preparation of the slab...
Preparation of the slab has begun! I don't actually know what this is called, so I'll call it the Cadbury Chocolate Block! Well I think it looks like blocks of chocolate! Or it could be that I just have chocolate on the brain, because the little chick in-utero tells me daily that she just has to have some chockie!!!
I'd love to watch how they do all this stuff, but I don't want to get in the way, so unfortunately I'll just have to be happy seeing the end product!
Until tomorrow,

Another beautiful day....
Another magnificent day in Melbourne...."is it worth driving past the block this morning, just in case?", she asked herself. "Alright, it's only down the road". Lo and behold, another digger and a truck with writing on the side that says, "Concreters - house slabs"!!!!!!!! Yee haa!!!!!!! Lots of hand clapping abounds! So full steam ahead and I'll drop by this arvo and take some pics!!!

I remember now....
All the pipes were finished last week and trenches filled in before the rains came, thank goodness! But alas, after just doing a drive-by of the block...I remembered what it was that so frustrated the hell out of me the last time we built. Our last house was built over winter too, so you would always be looking at the 7 day weather forecast to see if any rain was forecast that could hamper the building process. We are doing the same with this one!
Which brings us to an absolutely magnificent Melbourne winter day - beautiful sunshine - perfect weather for building a house. But where are the builders? Not working on our block, that's for sure! Must be at arkraiders block today!!!! Patience, patience, patience. You know patience is a virtue?! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of it, but I'm trying!!!!

Pipes going in!
Went to visit the block this afternoon and it was all 'go, go, go'! Trenches had been dug and pipes were being laid. A power box had appeared and I was a very happy camper! The 'pipe' man commented on our huge cut and asked what we were planning to do with it. 'Put in a slide', I said! I don't know that there's much else we can do with it! It's bloody big! Also there was a lovely lady from up the road building with Porter Davis who was 'stealing' a trailer load of our beautiful soil! We had a quick chat and I hope she got home OK, because her trailer had a very flat tyre! So we are very excited; this is moving very quickly for us compared to the last time we built!

Site cut is done!
At home with two sickie boys today, but took a drive up to the block anyway! We went there for lunch yesterday and had fish and chips. The digger was still there, as well as a big pile of dirt. When we arrived today; all gone!!!! How exciting! So the site cut is finished; roll on the next stage!
